Disclaimer: This whole blog itself aren't for those who may cringe when reading anything with grammatical errors. Sadly I suffer from Dysgraphia Dyslexia and there's nothing I can do about it. When I read things, they seem correct to me but really aren't. So best you stop here.
As most of you can tell from my social media: Instagram I've been
selling a lot of clothes recently. Alhumdulilah. A lot of questions arose
regarding this and also "Who am I and what do I do" Lol To be honest
I get asked quite a lot, what do I do. I don't expect anyone to know but it
does get overwhelming as my hands is in some many pie holes
Always remember I love being in different business, not just
photography. You'd be surprised to know other stuff I've popped my head into.
It's more than making money for me, it's about inner satisfaction that I have
done something with my life.
So I do have a business in India, it's a garment factory. I am in
partnership with a business friend of mine there. It's in Gujrat; Surat. This
business is mainly to sell to businesses and individuals in India and
Bangladesh. Alhumdulilah for the past 2 years it's been going well there.
Recently I've had a bit more input in the selling rather than just
boring business and been selling across the globe for people. This is purely
because our factory is overloaded with clothes and for new stock to arrive,
well we need space. I can't make it my wardrobe and still stuff, it's a hazard.
Plus the workers in the factory need a safe place to work, so I've been selling
them here in the UK and everywhere else. Alhumdulilah for doing this because I
was able to clear out stock for them and make them work on new garments. This
maybe for some of you just a piece of cloth, but for my workers this is their
livelihood. Without processing orders they won't have food on their plate. We
are an affordable business and most of it goes back to our workers.
Let me tell you a bit about the garments sector, it's highly
difficult especially for me as I am not there to physically help, so my
communications is all done via phone. However I have 'skyped' my workers and
spoke to them on a regular basis to still give them that 'manager'
relationship. They're like a big family there and I can't wait to visit them
soon. In this sector, so much attention goes to details, the machines break
costs on that, if the cloth isn't what we describe to clients we re-create.
It's weird right? Working with people you have never met and
trusting them with a business that's a source of your incomings. I know a lot
of people will be reluctant to do this, but I am all about Risks and in
business I am HIGH risk taker, but don't think I don't do my research. I dig
deeply and see the pro's and con's. I have had 1 business that failed and I
still don't regret it as it made me learn a lot.
A lot have asked if I will be designing anything, now that I can't
risk because it will be my baby and I would want to be there in front of them.
Plus I am not saying never but if I design anything I'd like it to be known as
my designs. I have been asked by some umbrellas of designers regarding making
specific designs for them (Not sure why, I feel like I am tramp but they think
I have good attention to detail and dress modestly!) Which I am more than happy
to do so am looking forward to that.
This business is a very tough business and for me to doing this
whilst so many other businesses I am honestly grateful. I'd like to thank one
of my main workers: Pooja who does so much and the amount of times I pester her
in regards to orders she has been super patient with me!
I hope this clears few misunderstanding to some people. It's not something
new for me, it's just I have been actively promoting it more.
