Disclaimer: This whole blog itself aren't for those who may cringe when reading anything with grammatical errors. Sadly I suffer from Dysgraphia Dyslexia and there's nothing I can do about it. When I read things, they seem correct to me but really aren't. So best you stop here.

I am super excited to discuss this collaboration with you all. Honestly I have been itching to tell you all for a long time, however of course needed the pieces in front of my face to actually see the fact it’s coming true. As you all know firstly I am an “entrepreneur” although I hate that word because it sounds like I am being big headed but overall that is what I am and I have to get used to it. So over the years I’ve been working with different people and different things, but have to say the collaboration I have done this time is by far one of the best ones I have done in the past 7 years.

Starting business at a young age not a lot of people took me seriously but as time went by and my portfolio with the business grew and grew I got better and trying to get bigger. As you all know the magazine I have launched (Your Personal Bridal Dreams), with this I have come across a lot of people. One company I came across whilst working on the Autumn Issue was Maahira. In the next paragraph I will discuss my journey.

Journey:
When we went to the initial meeting and I went to see their pieces at the studio, I was talking to Arfia how I would wear it personally etc. Then randomly Nimisha was like “We should do a collaboration collection with Sheuly” At that moment I was excited but thought maybe just was a comment you make etc didn’t take it to heart.

Later on Maahira had an Fashionista Afternoon Tea open day and we attended to support them. After that Nimisha contacted me saying let’s start designing your collection. I was gobsmacked and was thinking in my head “Wow she did really mean it”

We started designing and getting all the ideas and thoughts together, we passed the project onto her team in India who gave their professional opinions on items, what would look good where etc  and following it through the collection was made and came within weeks of designing. The process was fast and lovely! Puja from India was always informing us of any updates. Can you believe I did all of this in between 2 VERY close people wedding + my family from America was around + summer holdiays! But nevertheless they were patient and the collection has come out lovely.

Initially when I started I had so many ideas this that this that, but because it’s the first collection I wanted to start slowly and small. At the end of the day no point making 10 different stuff, we need to see the sale of it too.
Inspiration: (Not in a big headed way)

I was inspired by my own wardrobe, I like to think I dress modestly. Now when I say modestly I DO NOT mean Islamic Modest. Just normal modest, so please do not think otherwise. If you see the way and what I wear, you will see I do not follow trend I tend to mix and match and wear what I like rather than what the society finds acceptable at that period. I like wear loose items etc. I wanted to create a variety of stuff so gown, kameez, lengha style and cape.

I’m going to discuss each item because I want you all to know to level of attention to detail that has gone in each piece alongside with the craftsmanship:

Cape:
Gold Shimmer Silk, detailed with gold embroidery and pearl work borders - perfect to be paired with any festive ensemble

Mint Gown:
Made from pure Raw Silk with intricate detailing on the Yoke in beadwork, threadwork and pearl work

A- Line Kurta Suit:
Beautiful Peacock Blue Suit - A truly Unique ensemble with Gold detailing on the shoulders and along the silhouette of the outfit. Kurta in Artsilk.

Gold Gown:
Gold Net with Sequins motifs throughout the dress and all over lining. Accompanied by a Burgundy Detachable skirt to add a little drama to the outfit for the more daring fashionistas

Maahira London:

I’d like to tell you a bit more about Maahira:

Based in North West London we pride ourselves on brining to you a palette of high end fashion and couture that enables our discerning buyers to exude a unique sense of elegance and sophistication.
As a confluence of young and upcoming designers, our collections feature rich fabrics and exquisite workmanship to bring you fashion that is not only in keeping with the latest trends and styles, but that give a signature look, completely unique to you.

With Maahira they don’t just try and sell their stuff off, they pay attention to detail of what you want. Also if they really can’t do something they will reject your order as they don’t want to sell something they can’t produce. This personally shows to me that they are doing what they love rather than just sell sell sell.

The Shoot:

We completed the shoot on Bank Holiday Monday, just few days after the items have arrived. I loved the fact this whole shoot was about myself (Not in a big headed way) For instance I did the makeup, designed the outfits and modelled.

I’d like to thank the team that helped at the shoot!

+ thank you Aunty for making such lovely food!

I’d like to thank Nimisha + Co for this opportunity! Honestly with them believing in me and allowing me to collaborate I really feel like working hard is paying off! Allahumma Barik for everything! They have been great since day one and not only saying this because of the collaboration, to be honest if they weren’t good firstly I wouldn’t do a collaboration with them as I don’t like working with unprofessional people + they wouldn’t be in the magazine. But they were and are, I have been to their studio many times and I have seen the way they are with clients. They give this whole YOU item feel.
